History of CHSTPA

CHSTPA was established in Beijing on September 1st 1992 as an association registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China

Li Zhensheng, the academician of China Scientific Academy, former vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and vice-chairman of Chinese Association for Science and Technology, was the first president of CHSTPA.

What we do

With health as the cornerstone, science and technology as the guide, and by means of high and new technology, we aim to organize and unite the general medical, health care and related scientific and technical workers, attract both domestic and abroad forces to organically combine human information big data, medical artificial intelligence, life science with health care, frontier interdisciplinary research, and transformation of scientific research achievements. To promote the development of science and technology for human health, we will make positive contributions to the implementation of the Healthy China strategy. We seek to accomplish the following aims:

Discover, recommend and cultivate outstanding scientific and technological talents and management talents in the field of medical and health care and big health, carry out publicity, education, medical science and technology training and other related activities; carry out public welfare activities such as public health clinics, relief of serious illnesses, training of medical talents, etc., and promote the revitalisation of the countryside to assist in the strategy of Healthy China;

To carry out human health, medical science and technology recommendation and coordination work, clinical new technology demonstration work, put forward medicine and health, health science and technology policy recommendations; authorised by the relevant government departments, to carry out medicine and health science and technology market research, industry assessment and consulting services for the development of the industry to provide references.

Medical Tissue Bank & Research Centre

The Medical Tissue Bank (Biospecimen Bank) and Research Centre of the CHSTPA is an open research platform for CHSTPA to provide its members with scientific research and scientific and technological achievements. At present, the Centre has established experimental technology platforms for molecular biology, cell biology, bioinformatics, reproductive genetics, experimental animals, etc., and is equipped with large-scale equipment platforms for single-cell sequencing, single-cell immunomics, body fluid proteomics, spatial transcriptomics, spatial metabolomics, etc., to meet the needs for preservation of medical tissues and biospecimens, basic and clinical research on stem cells, immune cells, gene therapy, etc., and clinical translation of medical devices and new drugs in the biomedical field. It can meet the needs of basic and clinical research on medical tissue and biological samples, stem cells, immune cells, gene therapy and other technologies, as well as the needs of clinical transformation of medical devices and new drugs in the field of biomedicine. It provides comprehensive services and strong support for scientific research and transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

The Centre has 23 full-time researchers, including 4 PhDs, 14 masters and 5 undergraduates. The research team of the Centre focuses on multi-omics integration and analysis, such as single-cell transcriptomics, single-cell epigenomics, proteomics, spatial transcriptomics, spatial metabolomics technology and data integration and analysis, and can work with members to carry out basic research in biomedicine-related fields and clinical research project design, experimental operation, data analysis, system construction and other work.

Brief introduction of the Research Platform

The centre has established several experimental platforms for molecular biology, cell biology, bioinformatics, biochemistry, immunology, etc. In addition to protein blotting (Western blot-WB), enzyme immunoassay (Elisa), real-time quantitative PCR, apoptosis assay (TUNEL), in-situ hybridisation (ISH), fluorescence in-situ hybridisation (FISH), In addition to conventional cell biology and molecular biology experiments such as pathological morphology staining and tissue microarrays, immunohistochemistry experiments, immunohistochemistry multiple staining (mIHC) cell immunofluorescence experiments, flow cytometric analyses, etc., we can also carry out the research and development of medical tissue/cells preservation, medical tissue engineering materials, gene editing (CRISPR-Cas9, in vitro transcription of mRNA), stem cell and immune cell basic and clinical research (mesenchymal and interstitial). Basic and clinical research on stem cells and immune cells (MSCs, iPSCs, DCs, NKs, organoids, embryos/chimeras), cellular phenotyping and functional analysis (mitochondrial energy metabolism, small animal in vivo imaging, real-time cytotoxicity experiments), bioinformatics (tumour neoantigen analysis, machine learning/image recognition), and the construction of animal models, as well as other experiments and related clinical research.
